Since it was on my mind, I decided I would stop by and leave a review on my experiences with the Browning strike force trail cam. I'll start by saying that I own two of these cameras. I purchased the first about two years ago and was very pleased. I used this primarily as a still photo device. I attempted videos but the video length was never consistent.
I gave up when none of my videos were longer than 4 seconds despite setting video length to 2 min. I found the still and night photo quality to be decent and purchased a second camera about 8 months ago. The 2nd camera worked fine at first.
I noticed it went through batteries about 5 times faster than the 1st. I was shocked at the difference. After about a month, every time I went to check the camera it would be powered down and unresponsive. I managed to troubleshoot my way into determining that the battery tray would shift slightly as it sat and it would lose power until it was pushed back into place. I managed to craft a solution by adding a screw and washer to the mounting hole by the battery tray. It was finicky but seemed to work.
I tried the video on the 2nd camera and ran into the same exact issues as the first; short videos that would cut out in the just as an animal approached the middle of the frame. The photo quality was the same as the first camera.
After about months of use the 2nd camera has completely stopped taking photos as night. Naturally, I tried new batteries and a memory card to test either of those for defects. I even went as far as placing the old and new cameras side by side and found that the newer one was incapable of taking night photos. I figured that I had probably purchased a lemon and pulled the camera from the woods so that I could start jumping through the hoops associated with a warranty return. In the past month, my original camera has now stopped taking photos at night as well.
I plan on getting my 2nd Browning camera repaired but since the first is now outside the warranty period, I am looking for a new camera and I will be looking for a different brand. I am giving this item a two star review because I will not purchase another one.
I have no faith in the quality of the item I will receive and I'm not sure if it will last a month or a year. For the price, I expected something much more reliable.
